“Wisdom”
Story:
Resembling a royal crown, this Sitka spruce is nestled within a grove of trees off the beaten path.
Sitka Sedge Natural Area is a wonderful addition to the northern Oregon Coast, established in 2018.
I’ve come here multiple times for the trail running. Trails are free of roots and easy on the knees.
And the trail system is extensive relative to the area because there are several places where one can take an offshoot trail. It was during one of my runs that I took one of these offshoot trails into the forest where I discovered this stately tree.
While I didn’t have my camera with me, I could visualize the shot that I wanted. The way the late afternoon light, diffused through the canopy, caught the edge of the moss. It accentuated the shape of the branches. And the shape of the tree just stood out from the rest. As if it was sage-like and full of wisdom.

It’s size; far greater than anything near it.
