“Winter’s Reserve”

Story:
Viewed from Mt. Tumalo just before sunset, the volcanic mountains that make up the Three Sisters Wilderness are covered in pristine snow.

Photographed during the same evening as “Crooked Cold”, I was entranced by the immediacy of the slumbering volcanoes and switched lenses to provide a closer perspective.

From what I could tell then and from what I can tell now is that nowhere in this photograph is there evidence of human exploration.

(Snowmobiles are banned from the area.)

Only the most intrepid of adventurers has access to this winter’s reserve.

The volcanoes from left to right are South Sister, Middle Sister, and Broken Top.

(Only a sliver of North Sister can be seen to the left of Broken Top.)

Pristine Central Oregon Cascades.
