”Stoller Vineyards”

Description:
The historic granary at Stoller Family Estate rises above autumn vineyards beneath a blue November sky in Oregon’s Dundee Hills AVA. Surrounded by oak woodlands, rolling basalt-formed hills, and wine-country farmland, this view highlights one of the Willamette Valley’s most recognized wineries and seasonal landscapes.

Story:
The granary of Stoller Family Estates is framed by autumn-turned vineyards on a blue-sky afternoon in early November of 2020.

From along the fencing, I worked my tripod and camera into position, lining up the “Stoller Vineyards” sign so it would sit neatly between the tree branches and the turning grape leaves.

As I was doing this, cars occasionally drove past. I wondered what they thought of me standing along the roadside with my tripod so carefully aimed at one sliver of the property. No one honked or said a word. I was left alone to concentrate — with only my insecurities to disturb me.

Wispy clouds drifted across the sky, sometimes blocking the sun. Just as I created the photograph, one of those clouds slid in front of the light. More followed, gathering and thickening. Rain was returning, and this felt like one of my last chances to photograph autumn under good weather.
