“Peggys Point Lighthouse (2)”
Description:
Peggys Point Lighthouse in Peggy’s Cove, Nova Scotia, is one of Canada’s most famous maritime landmarks. Built in 1915 on granite outcrops along the Atlantic coast, the lighthouse replaced an earlier wooden structure from 1868 and continues to serve as a beacon for ships navigating St. Margaret’s Bay.
Story:
I visited Peggy’s Cove all five evenings that I stayed near Halifax. And not one of those days was spent in the city itself. The morning was spent researching my next moves while I savored the evenings to explore the picturesque coast when the lighting was most favorable for photography.
I focused on the lighthouse for three evenings. The first two times the sky was devoid of atmosphere, but I focused on perfecting the composition. Efforts paid off on the third evening when clouds were kissed by the setting sun.
