“Peggy’s Cove”

Description:
Peggy’s Cove is a historic fishing village on Nova Scotia’s South Shore. Established in 1811, the community is known for its granite coastline, colorful wooden homes, and working harbor. Once sustained by fishing and lobster trapping, Peggy’s Cove is now one of Canada’s most visited coastal landmarks.

Story:
Ah, Peggy’s Cove. What an incredibly picturesque place off the east coast of Nova Scotia. I’m so glad to have visited during the off season when the place was relatively crowd free. As you can see in my photograph, nobody was outside in the village to witness sunset, and I was the only person in my location taking pictures!

The number one reason why I do landscape photography is to witness. Once my camera settings are dialed in, I get to pause and observe — no marking of a canvas with brush strokes or glancing back and forth from a sketchbook to reality. With photography, I simply witness how the light plays across the surface as the sun and clouds change while waiting for the right moment to press.
