“Kiwanda Tapestry”
Description:
Sunset colors spread across Pacific City’s shoreline, lighting Haystack Rock, a 335-foot basalt sea stack connected to the Nestucca legend of Chief Kiawanda. The monolith’s volcanic origins and coastal erosion create the rugged form that dominates Cape Kiwanda’s iconic view.
Story:
Pink and purple clouds drifted above Haystack Rock, forming a textured sky that looked almost storm-like. The sunset in this photograph feels caught between two worlds. It creates its own glow, yet it also marks the quiet beginning of darkness.
What had been forecast as a mild evening turned into a stunning display. The colors intensified, the sky deepened, and the wet sand offered a nearly perfect reflection that doubled the beauty of the scene.
Photographed during the same spectacular evening as “Starburst Reflection” and “Pacific City Reflections.”
