“Golden Gate Bridge”

Description:
Viewed from Baker Beach, the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, California, was completed in 1937 after four years of construction. Spanning the Golden Gate Strait between San Francisco and Marin County, it quickly became an engineering icon and enduring symbol of American progress and design innovation.

Story:
One of my mother’s first cousins showed me this spot. I was visiting the Bay Area near the tale end of a long 10-week road trip that began in September and took me east from Oregon on a tour through some of the western United States most iconic scenery. It was week nine — San Francisco was one of my last stops on my way home.

Jayeson knew the area better than most, having spent a career as a national park ranger on Alcatraz and his younger years as a limousine driver. He showed me many places that would be nice for photography, including this here. Known as Baker Beach, I couldn’t help but return later in the day during evening to see this place at sunset. That’s when I photographed “Baker Beach Splash”.

This is now one of my favorites spots to photograph the Golden Gate Bridge. Thanks Jayeson!
