“Doyles River Falls”
Story:
A three-tiered waterfall, Doyles River Falls cascades gracefully through the forests of Shenandoah National Park.
To see these falls requires a moderate hike that quickly descends through the forest.*
(The weather on that spring day was warm and humid and the sky was filled with large and distinct puffy white clouds that permitted intermittent sunshine.)
A merciful breeze pushed the clouds in the sky (and wicked away the sweat from my skin). The waterfall would go from being bathed in sunshine to being shaded by clouds.
It was during one of those shaded moments that I took this photograph.
*The hike back to the car: quick descents always make for tough ascents.
