“Yellowstone Lake”

Story:
Fires are a regular occurrence in Yellowstone National Park. Destructive as they are, they are necessary for the survival and flourishing of the ecosystem.

(The fires that ravaged these trees were from 2003.)

The view from this overlook gives a visitor an idea of the enormous size of Lake Yellowstone.

Wondering how the hell I was going to take an interesting picture of Lake Yellowstone, the sky began to glow orange and red. Needing to act quickly, I found the only tree standing nearby and used it to frame my shot.

With the burned tree and the orange sunrise, this photograph is a reminder of the role fires play in shaping Yellowstone National Park.
