“Transfer of Light”
Story:
As the sun sets, its light is figuratively transferred to the lighthouse.
That a lighthouse can be a beacon of hope is not a mere figure of speech. This lighthouse’s beam can reach 21 miles offshore!
(To give you some perspective, standing at sea level you can see about 3 miles offshore on a clear day.)
Heceta Head Lighthouse is also one of the few lighthouses whose light still shines brightly off the Oregon coast. It’s a popular lighthouse to photograph.
In years past, a tree covered a large area of the lighthouse but has since been removed.
