“Above and Below”

Description:
This photograph shows the Golden Gate Bridge viewed from Fort Point in San Francisco, California. Completed in 1937, the 1.7 mile long suspension bridge spans the Golden Gate Strait between San Francisco and Marin County. Fort Point, built before the Civil War during the height of the California Gold Rush, was spared from demolition when construction of the bridge began.

Story:
Morning light poured across the Golden Gate Bridge, setting the towers ablaze in color. Below, a small puddle reflected the same scene: a quieter world made of salt water and light. Between them, the rusted chain cut across the frame like a boundary between realms, one built by human hands and the other born of tide and reflection.

The bridge itself felt suspended between those two worlds. Above, sunlight revealed strength and precision. Below, the water translated that strength into movement and impermanence. Both were true, both were beautiful: one enduring, one fleeting.
