I awoke bleary-eyed, half-asleep and belly down with my face twisted in the soft pillow of the bed in the guest room of the cottage rental that lined the bay. It was 04:50 in the morning and I fumbled to promptly hit the snooze button on my phone. Eight minutes later and the stock chime of the iPhone tried to wake me up again. And again I hit the snooze button. Those measley eight minutes felt like only two! By the time I finally got out of bed it was 05:14.

The rental cottage has a covered deck that overlooks the bay and provides a 180 degree view. As I stood with a cup of instant coffee in my hand… (to be continued)
